African Energy Invited to Exhibit at State Department’s Earth Day Celebration

Washington, D.C. ---- African Energy presented renewable energy and its role in Africa to Secretary of State Colin Powell and other diplomats at the State Department's Earth Day celebration in Washington, D.C. on 22 April 04. African Energy joined 40 other exhibitors such as Chevron Texaco, Coca-Cola, and the World Wildlife Fund who were invited to exhibit products and services addressing the theme of "Improving Our World Together".

Steve Hirsch, African Energy’s Director of Project Development, explained how the company's African dealer network markets and distributes solar, wind, and grid backup equipment across the continent. African Energy was the only US solar and wind energy equipment supplier at the event, and the company's exclusive focus on the African continent also elicited considerable interest.

In addition to State Dept. personnel, resident ambassadors and commercial attaches, as well as members of Congress and their staffs attended both the Secretary of State's opening program and the exhibition. Representatives from Senegal, Namibia, Chad, Ethiopia and a number of other African countries attended.
