Scottsdale , Arizona USA (October 1, 2003) ---- African Energy and Xantrex, the manufacturers of Trace inverters, held a joint training in Lagos , Nigeria during the month of September to train dealers and increase awareness of power backup and solar electric systems.
The three-day training session was fully booked, with forty people paying the equivalent of $US 57 each to learn how to size, install, sell, and service power backup and solar electric systems. The training was led by David Lopez, Europe and Africa Customer Service Manager at Xantrex, and Lincoln Dahl, Managing Director of African Energy. The final day of training featured an end-user's session, where dealers invited their customers to learn more about the technology and products. Solarmate Engineering, the Xantrex Authorized Service Center based in Lagos helped to organize the training and provided equipment for the practical demonstrations.
"The response was overwhelming - we really had a lot of interest and many high quality dealers at this session. I think people are realizing the size of the potential power back-up market in Nigeria ", said Dahl. Peter Schiele, Xantrex Sales Manager for Europe and Africa who also attended the training, had similar comments. "This was the first Trace training we had conducted in Nigeria , and the response was probably indicative of the trust people have in the Trace brand there," he said.
